| One Day Too Long
by Timothy N. Castle
The bombing of North Vietnam was percieved to be the critical link in the quest to win the War in vietnam. Not having the sophisticated Satellite imagry we have today, clearance for bombing runs by B-52's and other aircraft, depended on Radar installations for guidance to the target. By necessity, some of these radar installations were in Laos, and since according to our government "we have no military personel in Laos". Selected U.S. Air Force individuals were approached to "leave" the military and join civilian companies to service, maintain, and operate these tiny radar installations. Top Secret Site 85 was one such place. This great book deals with how the site operated and the intelligence actions necessary to keep it functional. --- And then it's demise. This will be a difficult book for most Vietnam Combat Veterans to read. --- Just when you think that someone is behind you to back you up, there is NO ONE THERE! I strongly recommend every member of the U.S. Congress be provided a copy so that, hopefully, this type of abandonment never happens to any U.S. Citizen or Soldier. And then there is the story about their
families......................
This is the most difficult to take book
I have ever read. --- But everyone should read it!
